Why We Do What We Do
Human trafficking and exploitation are complex and often intersect with trauma, mental health, substance use, housing instability, violence, and other vulnerabilities. Effective responses require more than recognizing the signs—they require understanding how trauma, coercion, and systems impact a person’s safety, choices, and ability to engage in services.
